Scholarships
Since 2014, Gems of Hope has had the privilege of awarding over $130,000 in scholarships including $15,000 in 2023.

Gifts of Education scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors in the Corridor whose lives have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis in their immediate family.
Our generous community continues to support this worthy program. Recent donors include West Side Transport, GreatAmerica Leasing, Wells Fargo, McGrath Automotive Group, Lil' Drug, Diamond V, The Bloomhall Family, Giacolleto Foundation, Marilynn Pohlman, and The Gems of Hope Youth Advisory Board. Because of these organizations and other donors and supporters a significant impact has been made to the "Gifts of Education" Scholarship Program.
About the Marilynn Pohlman Scholarship Established in 2021
Marilynn became aware of Gems of Hope through a fellow artist who urged her to enter an art contest that Gems of Hope was having. Gems of Hope’s mission resonated with Marilynn as her son is a 21 year cancer survivor and she lost her husband to cancer in 2016. She was impressed with the scholarship program and wanted to make a difference in the lives of families dealing with cancer. As a result of Marilynn’s generous annual contribution, Gems of Hope has established a special Marilynn Pohlman Scholarship which is awarded along with other student college scholarships each year. By the way, Marilynn’s watercolor submission was selected, by a people's choice vote, as the design for the 2021 notecard for Gems of Hope’s annual Hope Blooms daffodil fundraiser.
